Department of Bengali

Introduction

The department of Bengali at Women's College, Agartala has won reputation for achievement from both the teacher and students. The faculty members are serious and also sincere to impart teaching as per routine, even as per necessity as and when the students ask for. It is to be noted here that the students from different remote parts of Tripura and a good number of students belonging to schedule tribe communities get themselves admitted in major and general courses of U.G. programme. For this purpose the faculty members are to pay extra care for upgradation of These students. All these efforts cause a remarkable good result in the University examinations. Many students of this department have won position in the University examinations. Bengali Department is proud of the students established and posted in different type of profession, social work, political leadership, literary activities etc.

Activities of the Department

In addition to academic activities Bengali Department look to the matter of bright career of the students and to motivate the students towards nation building, social work, cultural activities and so on. The faculty and student jointly publish the departmental wall magazine named 'INDRADHANU' since 2005. The Department arranges the seminar and cultural function in observance of great men, literary persons and also has arranged two national seminars on "Manik Bandopaddhaya o Samakalin Sahitya" and "Bichitra Rabindranath: Ananya Rabindranath" on 5th & 6th September, 2009 and 24th & 25th September, 2011 respectively. The Depatment of Bengali organised 2 (two) days International webinar on 3rd & 4th October, 2020 on "Bangla Kotha Sahitto: Jono jibone dushomoyer peshon o uttoron" in online mode.

Contributions of the Faculty Members

Faculty member are spontaneously interested in the field of cultural and literary activities and members have placed themselves in reputation of writings published in magazines and periodicals. Many writings are included in the book of collections even published by Tripura University. Faculty members have participated in national, state level and regional seminars. Some of the faculty members are involved in programmes of All India Radio, Agartala and Agartala Door Darshan. Members are also honoured as resource persons at state level. The faculty members have acquired reputation as author.
