Introduction
The Department of Economics has been working since the establishment of the college in 1965. Initially, Economics began as an Elective Subject and in 1971, Honours Course was introduced. Over the years the Department had been enriched by the services of many eminent teachers. Presently the Department runs with the services of four teachers.
The Economics Department in the Faculty of Arts, Women's College, is highly acclaimed as a distinguished department of teaching. Many students of the Department have graduated with high percentage of marks and are well settled in their respective professions. Mentionable among them are our students serving as IAS officer, Assistant Professor in college. One of our students topped the state merit list in the First Semester Examination, Tripura University, 2014.The Department is devoted to build a solid foundation of basic academic knowledge of the subject with emphasis on practical aspects of the discipline. The academic excellence of the students is our vision. The holistic development of the students is our goal.
Contributions of the Faculty Members
Faculty member are spontaneously interested in the field of cultural and literary activities and members have placed themselves in reputation of writings published in magazines and periodicals. Many writings are included in the book of collections even published by Tripura University. Faculty members have participated in national, state level and regional seminars. Some of the faculty members are involved in programmes of All India Radio, Agartala and Agartala Door Darshan. Members are also honoured as resource persons at state level. The faculty members have acquired reputation as author.
